Bantry Bay

Bantry Bay features many beautiful islands and it's natural deep water harbour means it is the ideal place for fishing. Famous for it’s role in the failed rebellion of 1798, when the French, including the famous Wolfe Tone, used the bay for the aborted attempt to land 15,000 troops on 43 ships, it takes it’s name from the delightful fishing village of Bantry which heads the bay.

Many other villages and small towns straddle the bay while golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round at the Bantry Bay Golf Club which lies across from Whiddy Island. After dinner at one of the many restaurants in the bay, you can take an idyllic walk along the shore and watch the sunset over the ocean from the terrace in the hotel.
