Things To Do In West Cork
at the Glengarriff Eccles Hotel
We have a host of outdoor activities we can arrange for you at Eccles Hotel. Borrow a bike from us at Eccles Hotel and explore the beautiful Beara region, we can even prepare a picnic for you if required. Take a hike around the nearby Caha mountains or the peaceful nature reserve or try picking up some bushcraft skills with our friends in Outdoors Ireland or join them for an organised sea kayak exploring the bay here in Glengarriff. Ask at reception for more details on these activities.
If fishing is your favourite activity, you’ll be spoiled for choice here. Eccles Hotel is located at Glengarriff Harbour & Bay where there is an abundance of fish including Mackerel, Pollack, Skate, Dogfish and many others. For fresh water fishing, there is the stunning Gougane Barra or the nearby lake of Lough Allua, where there is excellent coarse fishing with fighting pike, bream, rudd, and perch to be caught with a pair of strong arms. Mana-made lakes at Carrigadrohid and Iniscarra hold large stocks of bream. So whatever type of fishing that interests you, we can advise on the best place to fish!
West Cork has a renowned food ethos thanks to our climate and its gentle generous nature. We boast many award-winning artisan food producers and chefs who are known for their culinary innovation and you can enjoy this great food in many pubs, restaurants, markets and food festivals throughout West Cork.
